Today is National Women in Sports Day, and today I’m going to talk about the only ever female player in the NHL Manon Rheaume who played for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a exhibition game becoming the first female player in the NHL’s history, allowing two goals on nine shots. This is a huge feat for women’s sports because it showed a women coming into the best hockey league on the planet and playing with grown men that have more powerful shots then cars racing down the freeway. Manon Rheaume is a example of how females can impower sports and motivate other females to do the same.
